What is Permanent Supportive Housing?

This is housing that is permanent, low cost housing for working families.

“We're only make so much. With my wife sick how can I afford a home?”

Community Of Hope, in partnership with Habitat for Humanity of Brevard, was able through this program to purchase and renovate several homes in the city of Melbourne. Community Of Hope provides these home as a low-cost permanent housing alternative to working families. To be eligible for a home a family must have children under 18 years old, have verifiable income, and be at or below 50% of the area medium income, which is based on family size.

In 2014, in an effort to support the HUD Rapid rehousing initiative, Community of Hope purchased a 12 unit apartment complex.  As we moved families in, it became evident that these families coming to use through rapid rehousing, really needed permanent low cost housing. To address the need for rapid rehousing, one unit has been set aside for Safe Overnight Stay.
