Our History

Today we have expanded to provide SOS- Safe overnight stay to families with children who are recently homeless.  We hope to continue partner with other agencies to provide better support for families.

We started.......

Timeline:

  • 2004 - Church sponsors offered support and Community of Hope board formed
  • 2005 - Became Incorporated as 501C(3)
  • 2006 - Sponsor church, Holy Trinity Episcopal gave use of a home for the first family
  • 2007 - Constructed single family home in Palm Bay with Grant funding and purchased a 4 unit site in south Melbourne
  • 2009 - Second home made available from church sponsor, Holy Trinity Episcopal
  • 2010 - Received grant to construct a duplex with partnership with Habitat
  • 2011 - Added 5 permanent low cost homes through the City of Melbourne Neighborhood Stabilization Program
  • 2012 - Added another single family home form church partner, First United Methodist
  • 2014 - Added 2 more permanent low cost single home thru Habitat for humanity and the City of Melbourne Neighborhood Stabilization Program
  • 2014 - Purchased a 12 unit apartment complex renamed Hope Village and used it in partnership with Steady Town for their rapid rehousing initiative
  • 2017 - Safe overnight stay (SOS) shelter was established to assist families facing sudden homelessness
  • 2017-2018 School year.  Kicked off Camp Hope
  • 2018 - Purchased a 4 unit apartment as permanent supportive housing with units available for family reunification
  • 2018 - Added a Titusville SOS shelter
